Great place and people, lots of opals to be found and some friendly frogs in the toilet.

We had a great time in Lightening Ridge. Although it was to short with only 2 nights. With Rebel, you are right on an actual opal mine. You can look for opals on the heaps of rock although we did not have the time. The road in is a dirt road and you get the feel of what it is like for so many of the opal miners in Lightening Ridge. The caravan is just outside of town. Rebel’s husband greeted us. Showed us around. The facilities are basic, but you are right there in an area that made history. The atmosphere is great. We found the caravan to be clean and tidy with all the things we needed. There is an Air Con for summer and a heater which we did not use. It is June which is winter here in Australia and definitely the best time of year to go to Lightening Ridge. I think summer may be a bit hot. Thanks for a great adventure. Value for money! Ian

LR is a special place on map of Australia. If you want to experience it as close to the locals as possible, which is usually the best way to explore new places, Rebel’s caravan gives you just that. You will feel like being a part of the locals. The sandy roads just on the outskirts of town (about 100m from bitumen road only) will make you feel different. The kangaroos at night and during the morning, green parrots flying around, the famous Artesian bore baths and amazingly clear night sky. You will never experience that in a big city! LR is a opal town and a gem itself… Rebel and her husband were very welcoming, showed us around the place and gave good advice. The caravan was nice and clean and has everything you could possibly need. It’s not 5 star hotel, not a motel and that’s the best thing about it. If you like the real touch and feel of the local stay, a bit of adventure, Rebel’s place is your perfect choice.

Rebel and Michael were wonderful hosts, giving us an authentic mining experience, great yarns, and samples of what a miner’s life is about. Rebel welcomed us warmly and explained the amenities very well. The accommodation is adequate and a step up from camping. The TARDIS was very clean and comfortable. It was quite cold in Lightning Ridge but we were warm and comfortable. Plumbed water in the TARDIS would be an added convenience. The beautiful vegetable garden is like an oasis in an outback town.

The TARDIS was exactly as described, it was a quiet peaceful location. We were greeted very warmly by Rebel and Michael on arrival. Both were very enthusiastic about Opal, Michael particularly knowledgeable on the subject and eager to share that valuable knowledge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future.

Rebel’s place was absolutely what I was looking for, was perfect for my trip as my mom wanted to see the place where opals are mined, and staying in the caravan added to the trip atmosphere. Rebel and Michale were great hosts, and absolute pleasure to chat with about opals and everything else. Next time I’ll plan for more time in the Ridge!

Rebel’s place is a little bit out of town but a short drive if you have transport. It is a bit alternate but that’s why I booked it. If you have a princess in your party it’s not for you. It is clean and presents better in real life. Try it and enjoy something different.

Great spot right among nature, this is when you realise that simplicity is far more comfortable than fancy hotels ! Rebel is super friendly! Recommend everyone to stay over

Easy going, polite and friendly. A minor hiccup with the shower that was dealt with quickly and easily. If you’re after a taste of the outback experience, this is the place to go.
